My little bear with tiny paws

I remember how ecstatic I was

when I first heard that you were born.

I kept counting days off the calendar,

waiting for the day I could finally meet you.

You were so small when I first saw you,

so tiny and cozy, sleeping with your little eyes closed,

without a worry in the world.

You used to hold my finger

in the palm of your hand,

and keep it close to your chest,

as if you somehow found that comforting.

You were my own little ball of sunshine,

my little baby bear with tiny paws,

my forever constant playmate,

my little package of cuteness,

my one and only little sister.

You’re turning 13 today.

You’re already the best in everything that you do,

turned out to be a little perfectionist,

always trying new things,

striving and thriving at such a young age.

Something you need to keep in mind always:

Don’t be just sweet and nice,

be strong and fierce too,

be innocent and wild,

be everything that you want to be,

and nothing that you don’t want to be.

Be there for yourself always.
