Hello dear Twenties!

Goodbye to my teenage years,

and a warm (read, conflicted) hello to the twenties!

Now my dear twenties,

let me give you a little behind the scenes

of who you’ll be dealing with.

Now I’m an amazing person,

very caring, very considerate, very loving.

I’m kind and patient (most of the times),

sometimes rude and always anti social.

But you see, I can be crazy at times,

really stupid sometimes, really annoying at other times.

I get really anxious and sometimes,

panic about things others don’t even notice.

I can get really awkward and really clumsy,

and I tend to overthink a lot,

blame myself for things that have

absolutely nothing to do with me.

I know, it’s stupid and nonsensical

but hey, you’ve got to deal with it,

there’s no backing out now.

Hey dear twenties,

I know you might be getting scared now,

believe me, I am too, but we’ll figure it out.

I will be difficult at times I know,

but I will also find my way back to us (I promise!).

So don’t worry, okay?

We’ll figure it out as we go on

together, hand in hand.

Just be a little nice to me,

I’m not used to you, you know.

So those of you who didn’t get it yet, it’s my birthday today. I’ve turned 20 and I’ve officially welcomed my twenties now! Hope the twenties aren’t as bad as people make it out to be.
