Easy for you to say that I am good for nothing.
Just because I’m of no use to you,
just because I don’t like the things that you do,
just because I am not aware of something that you’re interested in,
you label me as ‘good for nothing’.
Now let me tell you what I am good at.
I’m good at getting almost anything that I put my mind to,
I’m good at caring about the things that I’m passionate about,
I’m good at loving someone because I give my whole heart,
I’m either all in or all out.
Anyway, after that moment of grief and shock (at hearing those cruel words) passes,
I realize that I may be good for nothing for you,
but I am more than good for myself.
I am good for me,
and that’s good enough for me.
P.S.-
How do you feel when someone close to you says something very cruel to you? Do you start getting distant from them? Or do you just forgive and forget even though they aren’t sorry for what they said or did? What did you think of this poem? Share your thoughts below!
Excellent yet sad piece. I love the way it is turned around and self acceptance and inner love play their part. Very well done my friend.❤️

People near us, generally ignore (give no importance) to our skills and speciality.
I feel bad. Not much because you have full control over the power and potential you possess.
Individuals can answer your questions in their way, it may vary. 🙂

Sometimes you need to forgive and give a second chance, like you’d want for yourself. But not every act can be forgiven, at times not even our own.
I loved the power in this poem. A lot of us need to restore our long lost self confidence. I love the thought you’re projecting here ❤️❤️

I love this one! It’ s so important to remember that other people’s opinions don’t determine our worth or our capabilities. We are always good enough.

Exactly! Others’ opinions of us is not our reality. We just need to focus on ourselves ♥

I’ve had people in my life like this, and there was a time when I would cater to it; no more. Not interested. You are strong and wonderful, and, an excellent poet, Sonali! ❤❤

I’m glad you were able to realize your inner strength and stood up for yourself. It sounds like a simple thing to do but, not everyone can do that.
Thank you Jeff. Your appreciation really means a lot to me ♥♥

Such a sad but an empowering piece of poetry, dear Sonali. We’re better off without such people.
I realize that I may be good for nothing for you,

Good morning India.
Love the way you express those thoughts.
I feel one can forgive immediately…..but forgetting ….it takes some time. After all its human nature to remember those insults and injuries as they linger in the brain.
May be as they say ‘ time’ is the greatest healer for those insults and injuries.
Your thoughts are always food for thought.

I’m either all in or all out.
This is so me. If I like someone, I like with all my heart. If don’t like someone, I don’t like at all. There’s no in between.

If it is someone close, you have to make them understand. If it is your boss, kick him in the ass 😀 😀

Let the other speak his or her mind. At least you get to know what they are. One’s value is only recognized by one self. None knows you better than you yourself.

This poem describes the perfect situation of the standard quo scenario society lays on each other. The hurt of hearing a painful remark when you’ve given nothing but your heart to someone, and then the follow up pain of hearing a plastic apology to go with it leaves a scar. Forgive and forget, easier said than done….forget in time but forgiving takes patience. When one attempts to takes your worth, it’s beyond offensive and when getting it back, a little strength emerges with it and that’s why we use it against those who attempted to weaken us. I love how you described a few of your strengths among the many you posses, being all in, knowing you’re good enough and the confidence and heart. For every wall that was attempted to break down, like myself, you built two stronger ones to represent a foundation of how you stand tall….I love♥️♥️♥️it! You…good for nothing, you’re more like “Better for Everything”♥️🌹
