My Safe Zone

I’ve been waiting for a long time for you to come back to me,

I’ve been thinking a lot about where it all went wrong.

You had my heart ever since I first saw you when we were 12,

until you won it all over overwhelmingly and completely.

You were always there when I used to need some strength and more hope,

always ready to wage a war against anyone who would ever threaten my peace.

You were my angel, my haven, my beautiful constellation, always guiding me home,

you were my safezone, my all time chaperone, my own gorgeous morning dew.

My mother still asks me about you, about why you no longer call, why I no longer mention your name,

even our ex classmates ask me about you and how you’re doing, but all I can offer them is silence.

I loved you and I still do, I’m not sure what I did wrong or why it all went downhill,

nonetheless, I apologize, for everything I did, and for everything that I didn’t do.

There are times when you lose a friend who you thought was your forever person and that, is heartbreaking.
