Why was I never enough for you?
I try to keep myself busy
and to not think about you,
but I can’t help it.
I can’t stop thinking
about the last time that I saw you.
I still remember how it felt
standing on that platform all alone,
watching your train slowly go away,
while tears streamed down my face.
I guess, even my heart knew
that it would be the last time
I ever saw you, or ever held you.
I remember asking you not to turn
to wish me goodbye, or even for a last gaze at me.
I knew that my heart wasn’t capable
of handling that last gesture of such intimacy.
I cried all the way back home,
kept repeating all our moments
in my head, over and over again,
forcing myself to believe
that this just can’t be the end.
P.S.-

Very well written and created. I love the words that mean so much after a breakup. They hurt so we can learn to deflect them from ever taking place again. The romance to me was missing as these two broke up on tor before they reached the platform. You are a very great writer Sonali. ❤

This poem is more of a looking back on a heart breaking incident which happened a long time ago, so no romance, no lusting for love, just a sense of pain which is no longer soul crushing.
Thank you ♥

Knowing and wanting to avoid the inevitable heartbreak can leave the soul torn, your feelings are so expressed and the words are so relatable. I can feel the tear drop from this poetry as the strong hearted individual stood and watched the heart leave. I learned that just because you close your eyes during a bad dream doesn’t make it go away😉, but certain rays of sunshine people cast will get you through. The owners of the lonely hearts are the owners of the strongest hearts. It’s not about the search, it’s about the find.♥️♥️
