Exactly! It’s really frustrating when people hang around you just because they think that we’ll collapse on our own. If you don’t want to be with me, then please leave.

      1. I sense there might have been a back story to what u wrote down here…but whatever it may have been, may the situation bring you peace in the future. Life’s too short to stick on to the negatives.
Have a wonderful day and weekend ahead. Stay blessed

The saying goes, “Set it free, if it comes back then it’s yours. If it doesn’t, then it wasn’t meant to be.” Nowhere in that saying was the mention of speeches or thoughts on leaving. If one is having second thoughts about me, I don’t want them with me in the first place and you should think the same way. I feel when one considers another’s feelings when leaving them, it’s either fear or ego. Fear because deep down they feel it’s a mistake or ego because they feel one can’t go on without them, and when they see how wrong they are, their ego is bruised and that’s when they start questioning themselves. I agree lovely, if someone chooses to walk away from me first, I rather them do it without a second thought.

  6. Sonali, I have one — and only one – pity friend, and they are not really a friend at all, they are a charity case. I will never let them know that is how I feel about them, though. It would be unnecessarily cruel to do so. Here is what I have learned. If you stick with someone just because your leaving them is going to hurt them in some way (maybe financially, rather than emotionally, etc), then don’t kid yourself about it. You will just get confused about what they really mean to you and end up twisting your relationship with them into something unendurable.

On the other hand, we’re all in this world together, and sometimes we have to look out for the less fortunate among us. My pity friend was raised up in such a way as to be pretty screwed up by her parents, hence she’s pretty dysfunctional these days. Someone has to look out for her now and then, and it seems everyone else who has “tried” ends up taking advantage of her. That’s just unacceptable.

Excellent quote, by the way. I would hate knowing someone is sticking with me just because they don’t want to hurt me by leaving. Ugh! The worse part of it would be — they are preventing me from finding someone else. At least with my pity friend, I am not in a romantic relationship with her.

I’m really sorry to hear about your friend. I agree with you. If someone isn’t sure is they should be with me, then I’d really like them to leave. I can get by on my own. they don’t have to pretend to worry about me when they don’t really care.

And i don’t think you should call her a pity friend. It doesn’t sound right.

      1. You got me thinking. You’re right. I do not actually pity her. I just feel bad for her. There’s a difference. Good point, Sonali. Thanks.

You don’t need to thank me. I don’t like to be pitied. I hate it. I don’t like the whole idea of pity. If you want, then be empathetic. But not pity.

  7. Sometimes I feel the same way as if I just don’t care about the presence anymore.

I too feel the same way at times. But most of the times,it’s not that I don’t care about their presence. I do care, a lot. But I don’t want someone to be with me just because they pity me. I don’t want anyone to feel like they’re bound to be with me.
