I still remember the day
when I first saw you
walk through that door
and frozen, I was left.
I knew right at that moment
while I held the glass of wine,
that you’ll always be the someone
whom I’ll never be able to call mine.
You’re like a punishment
That I want to live.
You’re like a torture
that I want to go through.
You’re with her;
she’s with you,
just how I always wanted
for us to be.
You’re happy with her,
while I deal with the tears
of my love for you,
which was never reciprocated.
Such a fool I am;
Kept dreaming of you,
making you my fantasy,
while you were someone else’s reality.
Broken, empty, devastated;
That’s how I feel
when I see you, my world
in somebody else’s arms.
P.S.-

The speaker uses plain language which is good because the poem gets directly to the heart of what it’s trying to say. However, I don’t have a real sense of why the speaker is willing to be punished or tortured for the sake of this “you” person.
Favorite line: “…my world in somebody else’s arms.” It’s simple, powerful, and beautiful all at the same time.

Thanks and well, people in love do unexplainable things sometimes. Thanks again 😊

When it’s unrequited love, you know deep down you should walk away, detach your feelings, but our minds and hearts get transfixed on it. It’s more about willpower!

Of course in a bad way Sonali. Who would want to see someone’s love in someone else’s arms…

Whoa! Gave me chills! I felt the sadness of unrequited love, similar to what Shakespeare wrote. Great job!

“Making you my fantasy, while you were someone else’s reality.” Such a relatable feeling to every reader out there and that’s what makes this so touchingly good. The feeling, emotion and description is all there. It’s like watching someone live the life you deserved, you wanted. It’s like losing the person you’ve dreamed about to an arranged marriage and there’s nothing you can do, a piece of you has been stolen. It’s like having a good dream only to bottle it up and give it away, your emotion you put into this gives that “passer by” feeling of loss. So powerful beautiful. Here it comes…..I feel ya😉❤️
This poem was amazingly written with great emotion and raw heart and has great description pointing out what the character is going through. Good job beautiful🌹🌹
